I've read too many founder stories that fade into disappointment. The big promises at launch that slowly erode into "we had to prioritize revenue." The "user-first" rhetoric that crumbles when growth pressure hits. The ideals that get traded for IPOs and acquisitions.
I don't want that to be Suplex's story. So I'm making you promises—public, explicit, binding in my own conscience if not in law. These are the lines I won't cross.
I will never store your contacts, your emails, your research, or any data you process through Suplex on my servers. The local-first architecture isn't a feature—it's a founding principle. If I ever change this, I've betrayed everything I stand for.
I won't trick you into upgrading. I won't make cancellation hard. I won't use fake scarcity or manufactured urgency. Pricing will be transparent, fair, and clearly communicated. If Suplex isn't worth the price at face value, I need to improve the product, not the marketing.
Your feedback shapes Suplex. Not just the praise—the criticism too. I commit to reading every message, even the angry ones. Especially the angry ones. I won't agree with everything, but I'll always consider it. You deserve to be heard.
What you do in Suplex stays in Suplex. I won't use your emails to train models. I won't analyze your contacts to improve our algorithms. Your business intelligence is yours alone. Period.
I want Suplex to last. That means building a real business with real revenue, not a growth-at-all-costs startup that flames out. I won't take funding that forces unsustainable expansion. I won't sacrifice the product's quality for vanity metrics.
In the unlikely event that Suplex ever ends, I promise to give you at least 6 months notice and tools to export everything. Your data, your templates, your history—all of it. You'll never be held hostage by my business decisions.
I won't hide behind corporate speak. I won't delegate every interaction to support teams. When you reach out, there's a real chance you'll hear from me personally. I built this thing, and I still care about every person who uses it.
These promises are easy to make now, while Suplex is young and idealistic. The real test will come when we're bigger, when there are investors or board members or quarterly targets. I know that. I'm writing this now as a commitment to my future self, and a warning: if you betray these promises, you betray who you set out to be.
I'm not perfect. I'll make mistakes. I'll have bad days and say things I regret. But these seven promises? These are non-negotiable. If I ever break one, I've lost my way, and I hope you'll be loud enough to help me find it again.
Thank you for trusting Suplex. I don't take that trust lightly.
My word is my bond,
